You have been hired by ABC Toys to design and build new toys but you are not sure how to go about it! Where do you start? All toys - no matter how simple - involve a lot of engineering. Join us for this week-long activity as we discover the design and engineering process of making toys. Learn to use 3D modeling software (Tinkercad), discover simple machines, learn about circuits, examine existing toys to see if you can reverse-engineer them, and explore manufacturing tech like 3D printers, laser-cutters, and vacuum molders. Projects and activities will depend on the age of the participants.
Toys involve some very complicated engineering. In this week-long workshop we'll explore different types of toys and expose your curious scientist to the manufacturing process they entail. We'll explore the engineering design process as we refine and modify toy ideas. From designing your own toys to building ours you are sure to have tons of fun building and making with us. Activities may include: -Learning about materials and their properties -Designing simple push/pull toys and then adding linkages -An Introduction to simple circuits -Discovering Hydraulics -Learning about Gears and what they do -Experimenting with robots
Explore the existence of crocodiles in New Jersey throughout their evolution. Crocodylians have been on the Earth for over 200 million years, and the wide diversity of crocodile species found in the Garden State’s fossil record is amazing. The exhibit delves into the fossil history of crocs in NJ, with preserved croc-like trackways dating back almost 200 million years and a nearly complete skeleton of crocodylian Hyposaurus rogersii, which lived in what is now Gloucester Co., NJ about 65 million years ago. Visitors will also come face-to-face with a six-foot skull reconstruction of Deinosuchus, one of the largest crocodiles to ever live.
Stop by for an interactive morning of music with Mr. Ray at Center Court.
Get wild with us weekly, as we learn about a variety of nature topics! Each class includes outdoor exploration, stories and a craft. Dress for the weather because we always go outside. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
