Howell Living History Farm, 70 Woodens Lane, Hopewell

In bygone days, it wasn’t uncommon for a farm boy or girl to hitch a ride on the back of a big draft horse while it was being driven back to the barn after a day working in the fields. During this program, kids 5 – 12 will learn the differences between draft, saddle and carriage horses when they climb aboard a fully harnessed workhorse for a ride down the lane…after, that is, they help farmers with barn chores like bedding stalls, filling water troughs, and making feed. A children's craft program is also offered in the visitor center for a small materials fee.

Winter fairies and friends gather together for some magical activities at the Watershed. We'll build winter fairy cottages using natural materials, search for fairies hidden at each activity station using a scavenger hunt sheet, create fun crafts like bird feeders, snowflake ornaments, and play fairy games such as fairy ring toss and magic gem search. Bundle up in your winter fairy finery for this all outdoors event. Wings and wands encouraged! Ages 2 and up. In-person program. Masks, social distancing, and adult attendance required. Discount available for members.

Are you prepared for a touch of the eccentric and steeled against a chill up your corset? Are you yearning to for an experience at once fantastical while also unnerving? Then join us for a historical walking tour with a murderous twist! There’s been ANOTHER very Victorian murder in Peddler’s Village. The poor widow Emmeline is trying to discover who murdered her husband – and her search may lead to deadly consequences. Stroll the byways and shadowy corners of the Village, led by your guide – who just happens to be the victim of a 130-year-old murder! Children ages 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Tours at 2, 3 and 4pm.
