Join a Duke Farms’ educator to learn why Duke Farms is “For the Birds!” Through games and activities, we will explore the fascinating life histories of birds and delve into topics such as bird biology, adaptations for flight, behavior, diets and habitats. Part of each program is spent indoors exploring the topic of the month and then we go outdoors to identify and observe birds in the field. This program will run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather, bring a refillable water bottle, and be prepared to walk between one and two miles with varying trail conditions. Binoculars will be provided.

Morven Museum and Garden

The Roosevelt String Band returns in celebration of Morven’s exhibition Dreaming of Utopia: Roosevelt, New Jersey to present an encore performance with songs to warm the heart including Bill Withers’ Lean on Me, If Not for You and Make You Feel My Love by Bob Dylan, Carole King’s You’ve Got a Friend, Tom Waits’ Martha, and Michael Peter Smith’s The Dutchman, among many others for this two hour concert. The band features David Brahinsky on guitar and vocals, Guy DeRosa on harmonicas, Phil McCauliffe on bass, Noemi Bolton on various string instruments and vocals and Paul Prestopino, the sole member of the Roosevelt String Band still residing in Roosevelt, on string instruments and vocals. Westminster Conservatory presents its annual showcase of Westminster ensembles and students. The concert features the Westminster Community Orchestra conducted by Ruth Ochs, the Westminster Conservatory Children’s Choirs conducted by Patricia Thel, Yvonne Macdonald, Chaequan Anderson, and John Paul Velez, winners of the Concerto Competition, Ethan Feng, clarinet, Abrielle Scott, flute, and Eugene Seong, tenor, and students of the Westminster Choir College Opera Workshop directed by Susan Shiplett Ashbaker and Nova Thomas, Jillian Krempasky, Bryan McClary, and Betsy Podsiadlo. The program includes works by Bach, Bertaux, Chaminade, Crusell, Donizetti, Faure, Gilbert and Sullivan, Grieg, Mozart, Smetana, and the world premiere of Skylands by Westminster composer Sam Scheibe.
