“Preserving the Pinelands: Albert Horner’s Portraits of a National Treasure,” a new exhibition opens Saturday, October 12. The exhibition features images by photographer Albert Horner which capture the quiet beauty and intimate landscapes of New Jersey’s Pinelands National Reserve. A number of artifacts and scientific specimens from the Museum’s collections help tell some of the stories of the land, animals, people and industries that make this unique area a state and national treasure. “Preserving the Pinelands” will be on view through June 28, 2020 in the East Gallery on the Museum’s on the first floor.

"Play with your food,” said no parent ever. Until now! For two, fun-filled days, your favorite kitchen helper will get plenty of hands-on practice—baking and decorating a layered cake with the sugar cookies and marbled chocolate dipped strawberries they prepared in class. We’ll cover essential techniques and give kids a great foundation for a lifetime of baking. Classes run about two hours each and last for two consecutive days. Young chefs will bake, design and decorate their own cake which they'll take home along with a packet of recipes. Designed for kids ages 7-11, this series will make your little chef more competent and confident in the kitchen. Please note: This series is only available as a five-day series. No single day enrollments. Registration required.

Experience the magic of more than 3 million lights illuminating acres of farmland at Shady Brook Farm’s Holiday Light Show! Encounter whimsical displays and familiar characters as you drive through in the comfort of your own car or enjoy the show on an open air wagon ride (weather permitting). The two mile trail takes about 20 min. to drive through if you’re taking your time to enjoy the sights (on a non-busy night). Warm up with a cup of hot cocoa and cook up s’mores at a toasty bonfire (cocoa, s’mores kits, and more treats available for purchase in the Farm Market.) Visit and have your photo taken with Santa (at the Farm Market) and pick out the perfect Christmas tree while you’re here!
