Small Explorers August Program

New Jersey State Museum

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Join us for June’s Small Explorers program, where we’ll explore the Garden State! We’ll read “I Will Never, Not Ever, Eat a Tomato” by Lauren Child. We’ll visit the Pretty Big Things exhibit to see farming equipment, then head back to the STEAM Center for fun hands-on activities and games. This free program is designed for children 6 months to 5 years old and their caregiver. Space is limited, reservations are required. Contact Kerry.Scott@sos.nj.gov to reserve your spot. Reservation requests must be received by 10:00 am the Friday before the program in order for staff to confirm space availability.

Kids Camp

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Painting with a Twist, Robinsville

Details: KIDS AGES 7-13 dive in to painting! Sign up here to attend all of the kids paintings offered this week. Three (shown Tuesday-Thursday) 1.5 hour paintings plus a MYSTERY PAINTING (completed in stages throughout the week), games, snacks and activities. Snacks and drinks provided. Everything you need to paint will be provided by us - canvas, easel, brushes, paint, apron and instruction!

Star Wars & Sci-Fi Science

Details: Come over to the dark side or battle its influence as we spend a week discovering the science behind Star WarsTM . Learn about outer space to understand that galaxy far far away and use the force (or perhaps forces) to make things move without touching them. Examine and build your own versions of many sci-fi props that technology is bringing closer to existence today. Whether you're a Jedi Master or don't know an Ewok from a Wookie, this camp will be fun for any young scientist.

Crybaby Matinee: Superman Cartoons Part 2

Discover what forces come into play when we build tall buildings or design wide spans or engineer roller coasters. Experiment with such diverse building materials as paper, straws, wood, and even spaghetti. Students will learn to identify different bridge designs and construction materials used in modern day engineering. They will work both individually and in teams to create structures which will be tested to see how well they survive under different natural conditions.
