Many of the tools, toys, and appliances we use every day rely on electric circuits, gears, and motors to move and work. Spend the week exploring just exactly how they all fit together! Combining science and engineering, students will learn the basics of gears, circuitry, magnets, motors, and much more. Take apart different objects to see first hand what parts are needed to make lights turn on, what makes something move, or how things make sound. Then build your own circuits using motors and gears, construct a motor model with magnets and copper, and experiment with series of gears to learn how to change speed or direction. You’ll never look at your favorite toy the same way again!
