[...] 11. Who is…Peekaboo! Adorable cloth book by Jelly Kitten that doesn’t seem to be available anymore. I bought it at Pip, Squeak, and Wilfred, a local toy store that doesn’t appear to have a website. Imagine! [...]

I went there to try to purchase a gift for my daughter for Christmas. They were sold out of it and I asked them if they could just tell me the brand name of the product. The girl I asked was obviously not happy that I asked her a question that would make her do any additional work. She hesitated and finally asked the owner/manager. When she came back, she flippantly stated that they don’t know, but they may re-order it. I told her that if they’re going to re-order it, then they can probably find out pretty easily. This is information that would have been on the box, plain as day, if it were available on the shelves. Obviously, the manager/owner did not want to give out the information – either she thought she was going to lose business by telling me the information or she was just too busy to bother. Instead of being honest, the girl just avoided the obvious and continued to say that they just don’t know, as she was walking away. How rude! I wasn’t trying to avoid purchasing things from their store, I just wanted to get a specific gift for my daughter in time for Christmas and they weren’t going to have it stocked by then. I have been a customer there before and have always felt a little turned off by their seemingly snooty “service”. A decent proprietor would have tried to help their customers, regardless of whether or not they would have purchased something right there and then. I have been to several toy stores since and have found that they’re much more considerate when dealing with customers. If they don’t carry something, they’re more than willing to help if they have access to that information. It’s such a pity that they’re the only toy store in Marketfair.
